Woodworking Class with the Headley's in Clarke County

I began with the legs which will have a rope twist carving

Leg Carving Setup


The rails are double tenoned into the legs

The case back is dovetailed into the side rails

The fly rail has a hand carved wooden hinge

The serpentine drawer front is dovetailed

The drawer is together

The drawer is fitted to the case

Foot mould pieces are added

Leg recess is drawn

Most of the waste is routed out

Final cleanup

Side Rail attached to a box to cut the curved profile

Cut in leg to set in gadroon mould

The front edge of the Drawer Bottom is fitted with a Spoke Shave...

until it fits the serpentine curve of the drawer front

I used a router to establish the cove cuts


Carving is complete...still some sanding

The table has 4 brackets


Brackets drawn in AutoCAD

CAD drawing imported into Bobcad for milling

Test cut in 5/16" poplar

Final cut in mahogany.  They will be hand-carved and then cut out of the blank.

Brackets are carved and ready to mount.
